Elen is a writer. She writes words for clients in advertising, branding, investment banking, drinks, food and management consultancy, and is the editor of The Marketing Society.
After studying English at Oxford, Elen worked as a journalist, as features editor at New Media Age and editor of Brand Strategy, which she relaunched from a 12-page newsletter into a 60-page magazine in 2002. She has also freelanced for the Financial Times, Guardian and Independent newspapers.
She is the author of three books (two on brands, one on babies), three ghostwritten books (if she told you the titles she’d have to shoot you), four websites, two daily blogs, five magazines, hundreds of articles, thousands of tweets, three short stories and a poem (displayed in V&A’s 26 Treasures exhibition).
You’ll often hear Elen commenting on branding for the broadcast media, appearing on The Money Programme, Channel 5, Sky News, Bloomberg TV, BBC World Service, BBC Radio 5, Radio 4 and local BBC radio. Most recently she commented on business writing for Peter Day’s Radio 4 programme In Business: Watch Your Language.
Elen has just been appointed as the editor of 26, the association for people who work with words. She has also just finished writing a novel, The Lightning Girl, and has been signed to the literary agency Aitken Alexander Associates.
